Description: In 1781, the Marquis de Lafayette came to Charlottesville to aide General Washington in defending Virginia against General Cornwallis. He stayed at this Tavern which later was named in his honor. This lovely residence has been restored with exceptional attention to detail. Warm heart pine floors, mouldings and multiple fireplaces accent this beautiful antique. The Tavern sits on a well protected and private knoll overlooking the bold Mechunk Creek which bisects the property. Here, too, is a wonderful guest house in a red barn design with exposed beams and Mexican Tile floors. With pool, period out-buildings, 54 acres of meadow and forest, just east of Charlottesville near Keswick.
